No Soul in the Eyes

Rihanna made an appearance on Good Morning America this morning and said that after Chris Brown attacked her, he had no soul in his eyes. It reminded me of when my stepson was acting out violently for many years when he was younger. He'd get this look in his eyes (or maybe I should explain it as a lack of look) like there was nobody home. Empty eyes. It was scary.

I understand. As a police officer I see it on the streets all the time. I see that same look in my oldest SD's eyes. No empathy, no remorse, nothing but a chilling look at what kind of an adult she is becoming. I arrest people all the time with that cold, spine-chilling stare. Scary, isn't it. Sorry that you have to see the same thing.
That's exactly it - no empathy. There was no conscience in the eyes.
