House Redecorating Wish List

>> Monday, November 22, 2010

I've made my household redecorating wish list up.  Here it is:

  • I want our bedroom painted.  We've not done this since we moved in - almost five years ago!
  • Utility sinks are a necessity with five dogs and six kids to keep the big messes out of the bathroom.  I want one in my laundry room.
  • I want this butcher block island for my kitchen (need more counter and storage space):

  • I want two adirondack chairs for our backyard.  Maybe that'd be a good thing to put on the Santa list!
  • I want linoleum laid in the family room where the dogs go in and out - one piece that is easily mopped!  I think you can get linoleum now that looks like tile or wood so I can pretend to have the real thing.  I'm ok with that.
  • I want a new mattress.  Our mattress is over 15 years old!  Boy do the backaches get ya in the morning!  I want a double though instead of a queen...we need the extra room in our bedroom plus it will be like cuddling without actual cuddling since you have to sleep close in a smaller bed.
  • My way out there wish list, which is just a dream, is to either add on for a master suite or convert our attached garage (which isn't even used for our cars).  What I wouldn't give not to have to share a bedroom with all these kids!!

In-Laws are Coming to Visit Soon

>> Tuesday, August 10, 2010

My husband's parents are coming to town in the next few weeks for a visit.  Despite the tension that existed in the beginning because of the ex and her "play victim" mentality she used to get to them in the beginning, things are ok now.  It'll be nice to see them, plus my husband said the next time his handyman father comes into town, they'll put a Insinkerator in my kitchen sink!

You have no idea how excited that makes me! I hate, hate, hate soggy food in my drain. I have strainers to catch it and it grosses me out to see soggy food in those too. I have to have hubby clean them. I don't do gross drains and I don't do toilets. Hubby does! Works for me.

I must be a big-time nerd to be excited about a garbage disposal.

Front Loader Washing Machine Odor

>> Monday, August 17, 2009

I was thrilled when we bought front-loading machines three years ago after moving to our new house. I was happy to have "the latest" but as with most things, sometimes "the latest" isn't always the best. The rubber seal around the door gets mildew growing in it and there is a smell on my clothes that just doesn't seem to want to go away.

While researching it, I'm finding several areas in the machine that needs to be cleaned that I didn't even know existed on the machine. Google it and see what you come up with if you're having the same problem. There are several things you can do. I'm going to have to get cleaning and I'm not looking forward to that job.

I also tend to throw a load in the wash and then forget about them. The clothes get nasty when that happens! It certainly doesn't help the situation any.

That combination bathroom/laundry room is definitely getting a makeover. While I have to keep the washer and dryer and get on a regular cleaning schedule for it, I am going to have to add some fresheners in there like a Woodwick Spill-Proof Reed Diffusers. Paint, a new floor, and a nice chrome shelf to hold the necessities and the bathroom will look fresh and presentable again (and smell presentable I hope).

Little Girl Rooms

>> Saturday, December 27, 2008

Next week, we begin the decorating of my two youngest daughters' room. They will get new flooring, trim, wainscoting, and wall paint. We spent several hours today sorting through all their clothes and toys, packing what we could away, throwing away what was broken, and then moving everything out of the bedroom. We only came across two spiders! Ick. Anyway, the girls are so excited to finally get a girly room. They've been waiting more than two years for this.

That will take off another item on my home remodel list. After this, I need to get my husband to put in a garbage disposal for me. He doesn't want to but when it came time to look at kitchen faucets, I got my way on that one. The one I wanted is now in my kitchen! I plan to get my way with the garbage disposal too (and the living room paint, kitchen paint, front door, etc.).

Vessel Sinks Bring Style to a Bathroom

>> Sunday, June 8, 2008

My bathroom desperately needs new fixtures and more updating. We have painted the walls and framed the mirror, but it is not enough for me. I need a new tub/shower combo, new floor and a new vanity and sink.

I love the look of vessel sinks. I think a vessel sink brings your bathroom up to date in style. You see them on a lot of the design shows on television. I would love to have one in at least one of my bathrooms.

A New Sink

>> Friday, May 16, 2008

I have a new kitchen sink! Some of you are probably thinking, "so what?" To me, it's a big deal. I've never had a new sink before. When we remodeled our kitchen, a new sink only made sense. After all, you can't put an old sink into a kitchen that has been gutted and redone to look new. So, off we went shopping for sinks.

If you want to do a little redecorating of your own, check out Faucets.com. They have the hardware and fixtures you need to spruce up your living space.

I Need an Office

>> Friday, May 2, 2008

We have been fixing up our house since we moved in two years ago. We have a long way to go. One thing my husband is going to do for me is give me office space so I can work more efficiently since I work from home. Having the right office furniture would be more comfortable and definitely better organized. It'd definitely be better than sitting on the couch with my laptop balanced on the arm waiting for a child to walk by and knock it off the side! Secretly, I think he is going to want to take it over, but it's mine! I've been busy online window shopping at Office Furniture Concepts to find what I need to furnish my office. I can't wait until I have my new office!
