One Less Month! Imagine me jumping for joy right now!

My countdown for half of our legal obligation with the ex ends in less than one year and seven months. I just noticed my first countdown flipped again recently! Boy that's a lot better than the 15 years it used to be! Wow! Two years following that, the last half of the legal obligation ends.

It seems like the time is dragging on but I sure do love to see one less month flip on my countdown. It keeps my spirits up a bit to know that there IS an end to the contact with her, the record keeping, the online backup of digital records saved and scanned over all these years, tracking child support because the courts have a problem doing it, and the check going out. We'll finally be able to move into a home that is big enough rather than being squeezed into little rooms. I want to have a bonfire in our fire pit with all of the paper records. That alone would take several nights to burn I think. Oh well, I'll just watch it burn while I toast the end of the legal relationship to the ex with champagne!

Woman Breastfeeds While Driving in Ohio

A woman in Ohio is being charged for breastfeeding her child under the age of two while driving! Are you kidding me? The video is below.

I am 100% for breastfeeding. I've nursed and weaned my last child at two years old. However, you don't nurse a child while you are driving. Where is the brain matter?

Apparently, the mother said she wouldn't let her child go hungry. Nobody expects her to!! She can't pull her butt over to nurse her baby but she can endanger the child's life by not only removing the child from a child safety restraint but having the child in between the steering wheel and herself? Unless she has mammoth breasts that reach to another seat (*sarcasm here*), the baby could be nowhere else. If that woman had been in a car accident, the baby would have been through the windshield or crushed between the steering wheel and mother.

This woman faces up to 180 days in jail and $1,800 fine. How about parenting classes? How about Social Services keeping an eye on this dingbat?

The report from another motorist who made the call actually said she was breastfeeding AND talking on the cell phone. I hope she wasn't doing both of those at the same time.

So, mom isn't denying driving while breasfeeding.

What I Want To Be When I Grow Up

For the last 12 years, I have wanted to be an attorney. I want to go to law school, graduate with very respectable grades, and work in family law where fathers get a raw deal all too often in the system. I would like to work in a system where both parents receive equal treatment for the sake of the children. After seeing how my husband was treated by his ex, the lawyers, and the family court system, that has been a dream of mine so more loving fathers didn't get mistreated. Lofty dream?

Law school wasn't affordable so I went to a community college for paralegal instead. Perhaps in five years when my husband is no longer a part of the family court system (when his kids turn 18) and we can possibly afford for me to go back to college for that length of time, becoming an attorney might not hold the same interest to me. I don't know. By that time, I will want to be actively planning for our retirement and probably not in school with "kids" half my age or starting a brand new career. I won't know that for five more years though.

In the interim, I still like to keep up things legally speaking. I like to see what new proposed laws are trying to get pushed through the system and what affect they would have on our family. I still visit different law web sites to see what's what in the field of law.

Law Firm Blogging is one of those places I recently came across. Some of the topics of interest are about legal business development books, Paris Hilton's attorney, online marketing for attorneys, web design for lawyers, news in the legal field, George Lindemann Jr pro blogging, and law firm blogs.

Maybe one day I will get to law school or else maybe one day, you'll find me on a ton of acreage somewhere out in the middle of nowhere with my family and horses. I haven't decided what I want to do when I grow up just yet. Never mind that I am 36! I'm still trying to grow up.
