Boy Hidden in Crawlspace to Keep Away From Dad

>> Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Two years ago, an Illinois father, Mike Chekevdai, was awarded temporary custody of his son, Richard "Ricky" Chekevdia. Mom, Shannon Wilfong, then took her son and went into hiding...into her mother's home in a specially built room no higher than a washing machine. The child's grandmother says that she did put the boy into this crawlspace but he didn't live there. I sure hope not!

Says a police officer:

"We let him out of the police car and he ran around like he's never seen the outdoors," said Illinois State Police Sgt. Stan Diggs. "It was actually very sad."

All this time, the boy was three miles from his father, who had no idea what had happened to his son. The mother had accused the father of molesting their son, but child welfare didn't find any evidence of abuse.

The mother is now in jail (charged with felony kidnapping). Her mother and her fiance are being charged with aiding and abetting.

Dad will be reunited with his son later this week.

Dad Accused of Sex Abuse Cleared After Almost 20 Years in Prison

>> Sunday, July 12, 2009

A former police officer was convicted of molesting his two children and spent almost 20 years in prison. Prosecutors at the time withheld the medical exam reports showing no evidence of abuse.

The children's mother, who divorced the father prior to the accusations, told her children that they were blocking out the memory of the abuse by their father. As adults, they realized the abuse never happened and filed to have it reversed.

The sentence was commuted in 2004 due to questions about the validity. On Friday, the children (now adults) were able to take the stand in a hearing for their dad. Despite this, Clyde Ray Spencer is still considered a sex offender and is hoping to have the convictions overturned.

*******
I think parents in a divorce situation who falsely accuse the other parent of a crime should be charged with a crime themselves when it is proved false. False accusations harm so many people - the person accused, the rest of their family, and the children. When so many get away with it, it just encourages other parents to do this.

The story is here.

Why You Shouldn't Allow Under-Age Kids at Parties

>> Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Here's one reason -

An 18-year-old teen in Pontiac, Michigan was attending a party at a 51-year-old man's house when this older man passed out. The teen thought it'd be funny to paint his face with make-up and put a lit candle on the man's pants. Well, he lit the pants right up!

The teen pled guilty.

I haven't heard if the 18-year-old was drinking at this man's house or not. I hope that wasn't the case.

Either way, he now has third degree groin burns to show for it.

Here's another reason - they don't belong at a party where adults are drinking to the excess that they pass out. Period!

When Mother Doesn't Know Best & Marijuana

>> Thursday, May 7, 2009

A mom in Oklahoma (Caroline Beavers) will be staring at the inside of her cell for several years (three years prison and seven years probation). She watched while an adult blew pot smoke into the mouth of her seven year old son with Downs Syndrome. Afterward, the child reached for his mom and she is seen on the video shaking the child and telling him to "stop it."

The mother's friend (Brandy Hugar) pled guilty but hasn't been sentenced yet. The woman who did this is eight months pregnant. They're pushing for six years prison and nine years probation for her.

There is controversy over this sentence. I've seen comments posted about the video (which I will post as soon as I find one I can embed) from individuals who think it wasn't a big deal. Here's a link to it instead. I've seen comments saying she was helping her child.

What do you think?

Nikki Catsouras Accident Scene Photos

I posted this yesterday on my other blog and it's been a popular read. Why do people want to see accident scene photos of a young woman's death? I don't get it. I even had somebody ask me for a link to the photos!! Um....no!!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
It's all over the 'net today about the photos from a very bad accident that this teenaged girl, Nikki Catsouras, was in (she was driving her dad's Porsche, which she'd been forbidden to drive, driving 100 mph when she crashed so you can imagine how horrific the accident was). The accident killed this 18-year-old three years ago and the photos are being leaked on the Internet. How horrid. Why would people post pictures like that? Why would people do that to the family of this girl? I think it's disgusting. The Internet is full of information but being morbid and cruel shouldn't be a part of it.

Somebody actually emailed these photos to the parents. What kind of sicko does that?

So, if you came here looking for the photos of a young woman almost decapitated, you won't find them here. Get a life and a hell of a lot of counseling!

I feel so bad for the family. I've lost loved ones to car accidents (three times). It's not a show for other people; it's real grief and loss and it's horrible. Losing a child would be devastating but to be harassed by sick individuals sending photos from the scene of their deceased child, the person or people who did this must be mental.

Not All Mothers Should Be Mothers

>> Sunday, April 5, 2009

In our society, mothers are generally given favorable bias in the family court system. Fathers are second-class citizens in family court (not all the time but too often). People don't want to believe that mothers could do anything to harm their own child. It happens. We see it in divorce situations. We see it in parental alienation (which should be a crime in my opinion). We see it in felony criminal cases as well.

For instance, take the "mother" who drugged her own 13-year-old daughter so the mother's 40-year-old boyfriend could get her pregnant in Pennsylvania. The mother and boyfriend attempted this THREE times. The girl, thankfully, prevented it every time. How awful for the child - not only the act tried against her but to know her own mother put her in harm's way on purpose. A MOTHER participated in trying to get her own child RAPED. Sick!

Not all mothers deserve the title of "mother". Some mothers are too sick, too selfish to be the mothers that our children deserve. It is past time that the family courts see this!!!

Sex Offender Registries

>> Saturday, February 21, 2009

Some sites people should be aware of, especially parents:

Family Watchdog
U. S. Dept. of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website
FBI Sex Offender Registry
Stop Sex Offenders

When my girls were invited to a sleepover at the grandparents of a school friend of theirs, I went online (to a sex offender registry and county property records) to check out the family and the area surrounding the family. I found a relative, who had property next door to the home where the party was, on the sex offender registry list. This family member could, in all likelihood, had been at the child's birthday party, with my children, had I allowed them to go.

I didn't. Thank god!

Will the registry find every pedophile? Absolutely not. For all that are caught, there are probably twice as many who aren't. However, it certainly helped us when we needed it.
