Did the stepkids recognize you for Mother's Day?

>> Monday, May 11, 2009

Well, as I expected, not a word from the stepkids for Mother's Day. My stepdaughter and I even texted briefly about shampoo (she wanted to know what kind we had when she was here for Spring Break) but not a word. I wasn't surprised.

It's a HUGE difference from when this day was acknowledged with drawings and hugs, etc. I've saved those drawings and cards. They're good memories. Boy how things change. Perhaps in the future we'll get her back (beyond the teen years).

How about you?

Not a word on Sunday from my step-kids either. I'm not bothered though. I know the reason is likely has to do with their mother. It's fine though, they gave me notes and hugs on Monday.

That's sweet! I'm glad they did that for you.

I guess I'm super lucky. My stepson asked his dad to get me flowers the friday before Mother's Day (because that's when he was with us prior to the holiday). It was very sweet. He also made two of the projects they did in school so BM and I could each get one. The teacher is pretty understanding about the "two moms" issue. He calls his father evey night when he's not with us but I was at work. I hope when's he gets older (he's 8) and begins making his own calls that he will still remember me. We'll have to see...
